Senior Management Team
Ruby Hutton – General Manager
Ruby grew up in hospitality, with her family owning the Sir Charles Napier in Chinnor, where after university she worked full time discovering a strong interest for wine. Having recently completed her Wine & Spirit Education Trust Level 3 exam and passing with merit, she is constantly looking for new wines to try to develop her palate as much as possible. She really enjoys Italian whites, especially Falanghina, Gavi di Gavi and Soave Classico, and is very much a Pinot Noir lover, especially liking examples from Germany and New Zealand.
David Bosanquet – Assistant Manager
David has previously worked in silver service in Buckinghamshire before he took to the bar and wine trade. After completing his WSET Level 3 and European Bartenders Diploma, David took the role here at The Oxford Wine Cafe to explore more wines from around the world and to add his touch of ‘flair’ to Oxford. David has recently found love in Malbec from Argentina, especially from Mendoza where they pair wines with food extremely well. Ask him anything about wine making and he will bore you silly with Carbonic Maceration or MLF!
Hannah Sifleet – Assistant Manager
Hannah recently joined us in December and has found love in the wine trade. After working in cocktail bars in Oxford for many years she has moved here to pursue a career in wine and food. Hannah has taken to dry Germanic Riesling especially from Baden. If you need a wine based cocktail though she is your girl.
As well as our full time and regular part time staff we are lucky to attract a wide range of interesting and well informed part time staff from all around the world. Whilst some stay for long periods, others move on – such is the nature of the business. The staff however are carefully chosen for their combination of wine knowledge, café or restaurant experience, personal skills and their ability to keep calm under pressure. We very much hope that they make you feel welcome and that you enjoy your experience at The Oxford Wine Café!
